PETER MUFUT
CO-FOUNDER
MANAGING PARTNER

Peter Mufut is ACIP’s Co-Founder and Managing Partner, leading the Firm’s activities from its head office in The Hague, including chairing ACIP’s Executive and Operating Committees. Peter also jointly oversees global investor relationship management activities. With over 15 years of professional experience, he has successfully led and participated in innovative, developmental, and financially viable investments of over USD 100 million across emerging and frontier market economies. His solid track record extends to investment management and corporate advisory services.

Before ACIP, Peter represented ASER Capital’s business from The Netherlands as a Senior Investment Manager, managed the European Investor Relations, and mobilized private capital for private sector companies in Africa and Latin America. Peter was a Financial Consultant at Profundo, an economic sustainability consultancy firm in Amsterdam. He also worked for various impact investors in the Netherlands, such as the Dutch Development Bank (FMO), Goodwell Investments, Terraffina Microfinance-ICCO Corporation, and E+Co, where he participated in the execution of debt and equity transactions for SMEs and MFIs/Banks. He started his career at Afriland First Bank in Cameroon in operations and client relationship management.

Peter is Dutch educated and holds an MBA in Finance & Investments from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (Netherlands) and a BA in Finance and Accounting from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands).

Mohamed is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner at ACIP, leading the Firm’s deal origination, business development, investor relations, and spearheading its strategic initiatives and investment promotion efforts. With 15 years of experience, Mohamed is a highly skilled and innovative investment professional with a strong track record of leading complex and highly dynamic transactions.

Prior to ACIP, Mohamed was a Senior Private Equity professional at the Green Climate Fund (GCF), where he spent six (6) years of his career. At the GCF, Mohamed led the design, structuring, and fundraising of the Climate Innovation Facility, a three-tier market-oriented solution to support early-stage climate innovations and technologies in developing countries and Emerging Markets. He also co-led the establishment and delivery of a successful USD 500 Million request for proposals for Mobilizing Private Funds at Scale and attracted 350 project proposals, for a total value of USD 40 Billion. Also, he co-led the design and establishment of the GCF Co-Investment solutions with institutional investors, including the GCF Co-Investment Vehicle, Syndication Desk, and the Catalytic Guarantee Framework for Climate.

Prior to joining the GCF, Mohamed established and led two innovation-based start-ups and held several leading roles in reputable institutions, including the Electronic Banking Services of the Central Bank of Sudan. Mohamed is a B.A., Valedictorian in Business Administration from the University of Business & International Studies (UBIS) in Geneva, Switzerland.

ELIE ALOKO
CO-FOUNDER
NON-EXECUTIVE

Elie Aloko is a Co-founder – Non-Executive of Africa Catalytic Investment Partners. He is a seasoned investment professional with a solid deal track record of over 1 billion USD in emerging markets and Africa over the past decade.

Elie was most recently the Director of Environment and Climate Finance at BOAD, the West African Development Bank. Prior to BOAD, he was a Climate Investment Specialist at the Green Climate Fund as a key member of the Financial Institutions Group. Elie was also an Africa Equity Analyst and a member of the Emerging Markets Equities team at Robeco Institutional Asset Management, where he advised fund managers on the attractiveness of investment opportunities in companies listed on African stock markets across a wide range of sectors, including Financial Institutions, Industrials, Telecoms, Energy and Consumer sectors. Prior to Robeco, Elie was at the Netherlands Development Bank (FMO) in the Financial Institutions Group and involved in appraising and executing investment opportunities, as well as managing the Africa portfolio in the Financial Sector. He started his career as an Analyst at BlackRock Investment Management (UK).

Elie holds a Master of Science in Money, Banking, and Finance from the University of St Andrews in Scotland (UK) and a bachelor’s degree with First Class Honors from Valley View University in Ghana.

ANDREAS CELIA
INVESTMENT MANAGER

With over 15 years of global capital markets experience, Andreas brings expertise working with SMEs with a successful track record as an investor, raising capital both equity and debt, asset restructuring, and turnaround cases ($100m).

Andreas has direct business experience in Latam, Africa, and Europe and is fluent in Swedish, English, Spanish, Italian, Croatian/Serbian, Portuguese, and French.

Andreas received his BA in Business Management and Finance from Johnson and Wales University.

DAVIDE PARISSE
INVESTMENT MANAGER

Davide brings extensive experience in credit risk management and ESG due diligence across commercial and international financial institutions in the EU and Asia, where he has managed project financing in developed and emerging markets.

Davide spent three (3) years working in the UN Green Climate Fund as Risk Manager in South Korea, and ING Bank for ten (10) years, where he held various positions in Project Finance as Risk Manager and ESG due diligence. He started his career in 2002 with Experian Decision Analytics working for different EU Banking Groups as a senior consultant.

Davide graduated from La Sapienza in Rome and holder of an MBA from the Rotterdam Business School.

Bre Levy Daniel
Business Development MANAGER - West Africa

Daniel is a professional banker based in Ivory Coast with a decade of progressive experience spent with Standard Chartered Bank, successively as Financial Markets Support, Credit Analyst, and Client Coverage Manager for the Financial Institutions Group, which included banks, broker-dealers, public sector entities, and government as well as development organization and multilateral.

Over the years, Daniel worked on several structured export finance transactions. Also, he supported the closing of significant mandates with the government of Ivory Coast,  including Eurobonds, funded risk participation, and syndication deals with other local banks to finance key sectors of the Ivory Coast National Development Program.

Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Valley View University in Ghana.

Wangui Muna
Manager

Catalytic Initiatives & investment Promotion

Wangui is the Manager for Strategic Initiatives and Investment Promotion at ACIP, leading the initiation, design, coordination, and implementation of strategic initiatives and investment promotion programmes and projects across sectors in developing countries and emerging markets.

With over 12 years of experience managing and delivering consultancy and donor projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, she specializes in development finance covering financial sector development, SME development, agricultural development, access to finance, energy access, and enabling environments.

Prior to joining ACIP, she worked with HEAT GmbH as a Senior Agriculture and Finance Access Expert on the UNDP NAMA Facility Project-Reducing Post-Harvest Losses Through Solar-Powered Cold Chain Services, Energy 4 Impact as an SME Advisor and Capital Raising Specialist. She also worked for Action Against Hunger UK as an SME Technical Advisor on the Department for International Development (DFID) funded Trade Enterprise and Employment Program (TEE), and Climate Focus managing the USAID funded Feed the Future East Africa Catalytic Sustainable Agribusiness Investment (CSA-I) and USAID Kenya Mission on the Financial Inclusion for Rural Microenterprises (FIRM) program and the Power Africa Trade Africa Initiative.

Wangui holds a BSc in International Business Administration-Finance and an M.B.A – Finance from the United States International University and is fluent in English and Kiswahili with Basic French.

Filippo Taliente

As a Senior Advisor for Business Development at ACIP, Filippo brings 35 years of experience in International Financial Markets. His expertise ranges from Business Development, Financial Deal Structuring, Financial and Commodity market trading, and Energy Financing.

Filippo brings diverse expertise with Private Sector Companies, Government Institutions, International Financial Institutions (IFI’s), Multilateral/Bilateral Development Banks (DFI’s), Investment Banks, Climate Investment Funds, Philanthropic Investors.

Filippo has a degree in Business Management from the Royal Halloway, University of London.

Uffei Ngu
Investment Analyst

Uffei is a dynamic professional, versed in banking procedure, operations, and systems. She has solid competence in compliance and data analysis. Her rich experience in banking developed her unique skills in client relationship management, compliance, and being a results-oriented executive. Before joining ACIP, Uffei worked for Société Générale Cameroun (SGC), and her ability to simplify processes and propose achievable solutions made her a household name in her KYC duties.

She is currently an Investment Analyst at ACIP. She supports the team with deal origination, structuring, the execution of transactions, and quality control. Also, she acts as an advisor and sparring partner of KYC for senior investment managers on specific KYC risks and client acceptance from a KYC perspective.

Uffei holds a Bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from the Catholic University Institute of Buea and an MBA from Ecole Superieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales de Douala (ESSEC).

LINA BADI

iNVESTMENT analyst

Lina Badi is an Investment Analyst at ACIP. Prior to ACIP, Lina was a Strategy and Business Transformation Officer at United Capital Bank (UCB), managing various digital transformation and financial inclusion projects and engaging with various stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient execution.

She contributed to launching various payment products and services, such as the first digital Visa card in Sudan using digital onboarding technology, as well as, managing the first ever Visa in-house card personalization in Sudan that increased efficiency by 99%. Before UCB, she worked at Globus Co. Ltd. As a finance officer where she managed the company’s debt and liquidity. She tracked progress at every stage of the operation cycle and managed relations with banks.

Prior to Globus, she worked at the Financial Investment Bank, managing all investment funds and carrying out investment execution, monitoring, and reporting of the funds. She initiated disclosure fact sheets, as well as a new strategic plan for the funds.

She has completed all three levels of the CFA program, earning above the 90th percentile in Level I. Lina graduated from the University of Medical Science and Technology, B.Sc. in Business Administration – Finance Specialization.

El Mehdi Zairi

Mehdi is a young professional in blended finance transactions and risk-sharing structures for climate finance in emerging and frontier markets.

Currently an Investment Analyst with ACIP, his work experience incorporates financial institutions transactions, private equity funds structuration, and direct investments in SMEs. Before joining our organization, he worked for the African Development Bank Group (Morocco), the Small Enterprise Assistance fund (an impact minded private equity firm based in Washington DC), and at the Financial Institutions team of the Private Sector Facility (Green Climate Fund, South Korea). Furthermore, Mehdi has a strong track record in volunteering to advocate for youth at the UNFCCC and the UN since 2014.

His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University Mohamed VI Polytechnique and a master’s degree in International Finance and Environmental Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, and he is currently completing an MSc in Wealth Management at the University of Geneva.

Lulu Arnold

Lulu Arnold is a young professional with first-hand experience at the Green Climate Fund, where she developed key skills in investment appraisal, due diligence, and structuring innovative climate finance transactions in developing countries. She is currently a Business Development Analyst at ACIP. She supports the team in business development efforts to build a solid pipeline of high-quality investment opportunities in Developing Countries and Emerging Markets. Lulu has also worked with various NGOs such as Africa Insight Korea, supporting business development in Africa.

Lulu received her bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Dodoma in Tanzania and a master’s degree in Development cooperation from Ewha Women University in South Korea. She also holds a post-graduate diploma in Economic diplomacy attained at the Center of Foreign Relations in Tanzania.

Serge Devieux has been Co-Head of IFC Financial Institutions Group Funds at IFC Asset Management Company, LLC., since 2014. Prior to joining AMC, he served as the IFC Director for South Asia Region and previously as Director Private Equity, Financial Markets Asia. He joined IFC in 2000, initially executing microfinance and banking investments in Latin America and the Caribbean. Subsequently, he served as a Portfolio Manager for financial institution investments and also led IFC’s business development and client services in the Andean Region as the Regional Manager.

Prior to joining IFC, he pursued an extensive career in engineering and finance that culminated in the position of Chief Executive Officer of Unibank.

He holds a Master of Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Sergio pombo

Sergio Pombo is an emerging markets fund management professional with over 30 years of managing, structuring, negotiating, and exiting investments and achieving attractive risk-adjusted returns. He is the Co-Founder of Berkana Private Equity, LLC, a US-registered limited liability company that provides advisory and structures investments in clean energy and energy efficiency in Latin America on behalf of qualified investors. 

In his advisory role, from 2017-2021, Sergio was Head of Private Equity Funds at the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the largest climatic fund for emerging markets with over $20 billion in capitalization. During his tenure at GCF, he led the structuring of several global climate funds with an AUM of $2 billion. Prior to this, Sergio was a Senior Investment Officer with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in the Global Private Equity funds department in Washington DC for 17 years.

Prior to IFC, he worked for the European Bank (EBRD) in London as a Principal Manager, Financial Policy and Strategic Planning. Sergio has a BSc. Industrial Engineering degree from Pontifical Xavierian University. He holds an MBA from the American University of Washington, DC, and received a Private Equity and Venture Capital certificate from Harvard’s Business School, Executive Program. Sergio serves on the board of several global private equity funds and is a senior advisor for SolarWindow Technologies, Inc., a developer of transparent electricity-generating coatings and processes which generate electricity on plastic and glass.

EMILIO CIARLO

Emilio is a lawyer and an international business consultant. He started his career in international relations in the Italian Parliament for the European Union, as part of its Foreign Affairs, and Defense committees.

In the second part of his career, he specialized in international development issues, providing a crucial contribution to reforming the development aid and international cooperation within the public and private sector of Italy.

He has been the Political Advisor to the Italian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation. From 2016 and ongoing he has been working in the Italian Agency for International Cooperation (AICS) as a Director and leading the Institutional and International Department.

As a Strategic and Political Advisor, he tackled complex projects, led large teams and managed constant change through innovation.

Emilio holds a double M.D in Law from the Sapienza University of Rome and International Relations from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio
